"Jesus IS the King"

Music
The emphasis of our service this week was to show that Jesus truly is our king. As Dave proclaimed in the sermon-- Jesus is our Prophet, our Priest, and our King. The kingdom that Christ rules over is not only one that exists in the future, but one that is present here and now. We proclaim that reality in these songs. From "All Our Praises" we sing "Sing to the one who sits on the throne, offer to Him all your praises. In the remake of Come Thou Fount, it is expressed in our title that we await the coming not only of our blessing but of our King. In "Behold Our God" we sing, "Behold Our God, Seated on His throne, Come let us adore Him!" Let us sing these songs to declare His kingdom here and now!

Living Isaiah 53

As a fellowship we have studied Isaiah 53 in preparation for our celebration of the Holy Week and Easter. It has been significant to me to read, study and preach this ancient prophecy, written around 700 B.C., that speaks so clearly and profoundly of Jesus Christ. What a plan the Lord God devised! What a Savior we have in His Son – Jesus.

I desire for myself and also for the people of Westchester that we would live out what Martin Luther wrote concerning the death and resurrection of Jesus: “Learn to know Christ and him crucified. Learn to sing to him, and say, ‘Lord Jesus, you are my righteousness, I am your sin. You have taken upon yourself what is mine and given me what is yours. You have become what you were not so that I might become what I was not.’” Luther’s words echo what 2 Corinthians 5:21 says; “ For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (ESV)

By God’s grace let us experience what Jesus has completely accomplished. God, give us faith to live this out in the reality of everyday life. Remember who we are in Jesus, remember what He has done for us and in us, remember that we now have in Christ everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), and in remembering, believing and living we will bring glory to God as we walk in His grace.
